Chita customs officers stopped an attempt to export 41 gold bars to China
Employees of the customs international automobile border-crossing point (MAPP) "Zabaikalsk" during the inspection of one of the trucks crossing the border between Russia and China, found 41 bars of precious metal with a total weight of more than 26 kg. According to estimates, the cost of the batch exceeds 94 million rubles.
According to the press service of the Federal Customs Service, the truck driver turned out to be a Russian carrier. It is clarified that together with the FSB officers, customs officers identified and detained suspects in the organization of the crime. They turned out to be two citizens of the PRC.
Criminal cases were initiated under articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation Part 5 of Article 191 (illegal trafficking of precious metals committed by a group of persons by prior agreement) and Part 2 of Article 226.1 (smuggling of strategically important goods) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. For the committed crime, violators of the law are punished by forced labor for up to five years or imprisonment for up to seven years with a fine of up to one million rubles or in the amount of wages or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to five years or without it.
